Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsdaughertysclass @ 7:02 am

This week you all are going to make a visit to the UMAC.  You will get to taste what the middle school experience will be like!  What are you most looking forward to in middle school?  How do you think middle school will be different than elementary?  What are you most nervous about going into middle school?  What is one question that you can’t wait to find out the answer to during your visit?

Be sure to respond to a friends post!

ERB Week! April 10, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsdaughertysclass @ 10:43 am

This week I want you all to tell me your opinion on ERB testing.  Do you think ERB’s are necessary?  Why do you think we take ERB’s?  Is it to see how the students are doing or is it to see how the teacher is doing or is it to see how the school is doing?

Give me your opinion, but be sure to state the reasons WHY this is your opinion on ERB’s.

I want to know what you guys are doing for spring break!  If you are not going anywhere for spring break, then describe your perfect spring break for me.  Tell me where you are going (not too much detail – remember our internet rules for giving out too much personal information – just say beach, France, skiing, etc.), what you are going to do while you are there, who you are going with, etc.  Tell me what you like about where you are going.  Be sure to comment on a friends post!

Secret Message…. March 20, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsdaughertysclass @ 6:57 am

This week we are going to try and crack the code that will free Lina and Doon from the City of Ember.  I would like you to visit this website and try your hand at cracking the code!  It isn’t really a code it is just a message full of holes.  Try to fill in the holes as much as you can and post what you figure out.  A good hint would be to copy the message over into Microsoft Word and see what you can figure out and then copy the message back to your post.  Additionally, I would like you to make a prediction about where you think they are (if you have already read the book, don’t give away the story!) and one question you have about the story right now.  Be sure to MEANINGFULLY comment on a friends post (not – good post).

Favorite Book Ever! March 13, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — mrsdaughertysclass @ 7:25 am

I would like you to write a review of your favorite book.  Your review should include important information such as the name of the book, the author, a brief summary, and why it is your favorite book.  Also, be sure to tell your fellow classmates WHY they should read this book.  Be sure to start your review with a hook and end with a conclusion that wraps up your entire review!  I will also be looking for comments on friend’s posts!

We have moved on to learning about electricity in science.  What is electricity?  How does it work?  Is there a difference between static electricity and current electricity?  If I wanted to build an electric circuit, how would I do that?  Tell me what you know about electricity this week and be sure to answer all of my questions!  Also, be sure to comment on a friends post.

Another Free Blog Post February 26, 2011

I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and are ready to get back to work!  You all did a nice job on your free blog post from last week, but I would like you to try it for another week.  A blog is typically used to try to persuade someone to your way of thinking or to inform the audience about a particular topic.  You all did a nice job, but this week I would like you to focus on a topic that you feel strongly about and try to persuade the group to your way of thinking.  You may pick any topic as long as it is appropriate to school.  Some of you blogged last week about shelter dogs, you may choose to blog this week about shelter dogs and why people should only get their dogs from shelters.  I would like you to be creative and show your passion about your topic.  I would also like a minimum of 10 sentences.  Also, be sure to post a reply to a friends comments.  Try to make your comments a reply back to the topic that agrees or disagrees with their position on a given topic.
