We are going to take a quick break from our blogging challenge!  I know we have finished science and are moving on to Social Studies, but I want you to use all that you know about Organisms and organs to perform virtual surgery!  Click on the link below and head off to be a surgeon.  Come back and post what you thought of knee surgery and post what organ systems were involved in your surgery.  Be sure that you mention more than one organ system, because multiple organ systems are impacted by surgery!  Remember to post your thoughts and reply to a friends comments!!!!!!!  Your answers and comments should be about 5 sentences each – if not more! 🙂

I think the skeletal system, the muscular system, and the nervous system were involved in the surgery. I thought it was gross though. I also never thought so much work went into prepping and doing the knee surgery. Now I know why doctors have to go through so many years of medical school!!! Who knew surgery would take that much work even just for prepping the knee!

  2. arianacm Says:

The bone, is in the skeletal system. The mucsle, and nerve system. It was AWESOME doing the surgery!!! I don’t know what Christie was talking about. It is not gross… or whatever she said. 🙂

  3. marbearcorser7 Says:

I saw the knee surgery and I thought it was gross but, cool! The organ systems are skeletal and the muscular systems. I thought when they opened the skin it was super gross. I thought that you acctually could do virtual knee surgery that was cool. I also thought you could learn about knee surgery in a fun way was cool.

  4. cathryn Says:

That was awesome! I think the systems were the smooth and skeleton. I think smooth because there was muscles and tissue. I also think that there was skeleton because there was tibia, femur, and patella(bones). That was easy! Are we going to do another?

    • The Captain Says:

Hi, I thought it was awesome too. I hope we get to do another one. What other surgery would you want to do? I think it would be neat to do eye surgery. Brain surgery would be my other choice.

I think the knee surgery and the organ systems i thought were skeletel and muscular. The questions were prety hard but at least its not a test and the knee surgery was pretty fun. I must say it was fun and gross at he smae time. I loved doing this blog and I hope we can do something like this again.

I thought that the procedure was going to make me throw up.

  5. The Captain Says:

The organ systems involved in the surgery are the muscular, nervous, circulatory and skeletal systems. I thought it was kind of fun and interesting. I thought it was going to be a real surgery and have blood. I never knew there were so many tools used during surgery. My dad had his knee operated on but wasn’t that bad. The doctors just drilled three little holes in his knee. He hurt it playing football but the surgery made it better. I hope I never have knee surgery.

  6. kelsey dex Says:

Awesome!!! It was much cooler than I thought it would be. The knee surgery used the Muscular system, the Skeletal System, and a lot of tissues.
There was also a tibia, patella and a femur. I really liked this blog. It was very interesting.

The surgery was nasty when I started out, but I got used to it. I thought there were way more layers of skin than it showed. I didn’t know there were only three of four. I thought the system in there was mostly the skeletal system. Do they use real drills in surgery ? This assignment was one of the best.

  8. Cbass Says:

I thought the knee surgery was a lot of fun. There were the muscular, skeletal, and a nerve system.I wish we could do something like this again ,like eye or brain surgery. It was a lot cooler than i thought it would be. What i really enjoyed was that it was gross and cool at the same time.

  9. blkbwls Says:

That was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!1I think the organ systems effected are the skelatel, nervous and, muscular systems. I don’t think that I’ll be doing any more knee surgerys anytime soon though. The knee surgery was kind of disgusting. ;(- Now, I’m glad that that’s over with.

  10. softballlover5 Says:

Even though the surgery was disgusting, it was a lot of work. I never knew how much work went into a surgery on the knee. The organ systems that goes into the work on the knee are, the nervous system, muscular system, and the skeletal system. It takes a very intelligent doctor or surgeon to do this work. A lot of organ systems go to the knee so you have to be very careful. The surgery got done in time.

  11. Ty Says:

I thought learning how knee surgery is performed was very interesting. Although, I thought the pictures of knee surgery were a bit disturbing. I think that some of the organs involved in knee surgery are the patella, the fibula, and the femur. I also thought that the muscles and tissues were also some organs in the leg that were involved in the knee surgery. I think that the skeletal, muscular, and circulatory systems were all involved in the surgery.

  12. cheergirl318 Says:

I thought that the surgery very interesting and kind or gross :). I could never do that for a living. I believe that I used the skeletal, muscular, and maybe the nervous system in the sugery. It was fun but it was alot of work too like you had to reply some stuff twice. I loved how they asked you qustions I totally felt like I was hands on, there with the doctor

  13. laserdog700 Says:

I think the skeletal, muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems were involved in the knee surgery. Most surgery is gross in real life, but animated surgery taught me a lot without making me sick to my stomach. Surgery is a vital part of life for most people who need it to live a normal life. Most real life surgery is very complicated and complex. Being a surgeon is very tough and surgery must be completed well and precise.

  14. jphe123 Says:

THe skeletal system is the knee and when they were checking the vital signs are the nervous or nerve system. It was very interactive but gross! I am DEFINETLY not big on the blood effect. This is not something I would do when I grow up.

  15. Nagachess Says:

I think that knee surgery is definitely not my thing. I couldn’t even look at the real pictures once I took a peek! The worst part was when I had to cut up the skin. The moment still gives me the chills. This job is for someone who has a really strong stomach. The organ systems that were involved were the muscular system, skeletal system, nervous system, and circulatory system.
